Backyard Updates

It is amazing what 6 weeks and some elbow grease can do – (Left – Before; Right – After).

One day it hit me how out of control our fence and side yard was – so I decided to do something about it. I went into this thinking I would be able to knock it out in a weekend- anddd 6 weeks later I’m finally done. If you’re interested to see progress in video format, head over to InstaStories.

Ripping out the Fence.

This bad boy was our biggest hurdle, it took three weeks and a lot of sweat equity to pull down. I used a Drillbit, Hammer, and Sawzall to finally rip it down.

Our weeds were OUT OF CONTROL — I think some of them were prehistoric size.

Pea Gravel.

To help deter weeds from growing in year over year – I sprayed a thick layer of Round Up before laying the weed barrier down.

Weed Barrier

I laid down the weed barrier and tacked it down using stakes (you can find them right next to the weed barrier at Home Depot).

Finally, I laid the 20 bags of Pea Gravel down. While it may have been slightly cheaper to purchase the Pea Gravel in bulk, it was so easy to haul a bag back in the corner, slice it open and lay it down.
